The Peoples Station 107 Jamz and Lake Charles Pit Bull Rescue are making a huge impact with the "Dog of The Week" series. Since we began the weekly series, we are making headway in saving lives, getting dogs adopted and providing much needed awareness and education about 'Bull Breed' dogs.

It's true, if a dog falls into the wrong hands it can be extremely dangerous to other dogs and people.  It is also just as true, that ALL dogs aren't bad and shouldn't have to suffer or die for a handful of bad apples. A lot of times, bad owners are the biggest problem.

With better laws, stiffer fines and longer sentences for animal abusers and bad owners who create, train and fight their dogs.....dog attacks can decline greatly.  It's important that we monitor our children around our family pets as well.  As responsible owners and parents, it's our job to teach our children to respect animals.  Sometimes kids, especially small children don't understand that hitting or hurting the family dog, cat, etc. can cause them to be bit or attacked.  In rare cases, some animals just don't like people or kids and can be dangerous no matter what.

These cases need to be dealt with accordingly and on a case-by-case bases.  The answer is not to euthanize EVERY dog of a certain breed.  It's also important that people don't go out and get a dog for status.  Do your homework on the breed your interested in. This can help you understand your dog and enable you to care for them properly. This can also help keep dogs out of shelters or from being taken for a LONG RIDE and being abandoned and starved to death.

The fact is, having an animal is big responsibility and requires work, patience and training. However, it's also very rewarding and can greatly increase good health and mental well being. Animals give unconditional love, never judge you, are also was happy to see you and are a wonderful way for a person/family to learn how to love, share and care.

Together we can rule out animal abuse, neglect, slaughter and dog fighting.  Your support and donations to animal shelters like Lake Charles Pit Bull Rescue are saving lives. Speaking of which, Halo is making great strides in the "Positive Pit Project", learning how to be a therapy dog. Kai has been adopted and will move in with his new family soon and Pig is having her second meet and greet!  WE THANK YOU!

By the way, we thought you need to know that the Valentine's Day, "Adoption Day" event at Petco was a huge success! Special thanks to the folks at Petco, all the Lake Charles Pit Bull Rescue volunteers and everyone who came out to show their support.

THANK YOU!  Below is a look at some of the photo's taken at the event:

As you can see, Team Halo's kissing booth was a hit!  He gave out a ton of kisses and raised a lot of money in the process.  This money is badly needed as it helps Lake Charles Pit Bull Rescue pay vet bills, provide shelter, food and other necessary items to continue operating and saving lives.
