From the looks of things Drake is gonna leave the 2013 BET Awards with at least one trophy of the 12 he’s been nominated for, including Best Male Hip-Hop artist.  Kendrick Lamar and 2 Chainz are right behind him with 8 nominations each.

Meanwhile, Chris Brown, Usher, Miguel, Justin Timberlake and Bruno Mars will all compete for the Best R&B/Pop Awards.  Nicki Minaj, Eve and Azealia Banks will go head to head for the Best Female Hip-Hop artist. While, Alicia Keyes, Beyonce and Rihanna battle it out for the Best Female R&B/Pop Artist category.

In other news, Dr. Dre, who’s real name is Andre Young, and his Beats By Dre business partner music executive Jimmy Iovine are putting their millions to good use.   The two are giving $70 million dollars of their Beats fortune to the University of Southern California to create a new music academy to help cultivate the next generation of music business moguls.

Under the schools four-year program students will be offered courses on engineering, computer science, fine arts, graphic design, business and leadership training.  According to a statement issued by USC,

“industry icons and innovators as visiting faculty and guest speakers” will also take part in the program. It will also provide one-on-one mentoring by professors.

“Academy students will have the freedom to move easily from classroom to lab, from studio to workshop individually or in groups, and blow past any academic or structural barriers to spontaneous creativity,” said Erica Muhl, the first director of the new academy, in a statement.

In the meantime,  Ludacris has been giving away free music courtesy of his I.D.A.F.F. campaign, which stands for “I Don’t Give A F*** Fridays.”  According to XXL.com, the ATL legend is planning to drop a mixtape on May 24th called I Don’t Give a F*** as well.  On top of the music thing, Luda is still flexing his acting skills and will grace the big screen with an A-list cast in 'Fast & Furious 6.'
