The 2015 Billboard Music Awards kicked off with a world premiere courtesy of Taylor Swift with the news that Kendrick Lamar would appear in the video for "Bad Blood" as a character named Welvin Da Great

TheBoomBox said it best, for some reason mainstream award shows are giving Hip Hop little to no shine.  This years Billboard Music Awards was much different.  J. Cole's Forest Hills Drive earned the Top Rap Album award, beating out projects from Drake, Nicki Minaj, Iggy Azalea and Eminem.  The only problem is, we didn't see it because it was announced off air.  However the Hip-Hopera Empire got some major shine winning a nice trophy or two.

Other winners include Sam Smith who beat Drake and Pharrell for the Top Male Artist award.  He also won the Top New Artist, but Pharrell didn't leave empty handed winning two awards before the night was over.  Top Rap Artist award of course went to Iggy Azelia again.   John Legend got the Top Radio Song for "All Of Me."  DJ Snake & Lil Jon, "Turn Down For What"

Other than that, there were no awards for Nicki Minaj, Drake, Lil Wayne, Kendrick Lamar, Wale, Chris Brown, Kanye West or Beyonce, all of whom had major albums or hit singles in 2014.

Well can't worry about things, that will never change.  So, it's out with Billlboard and in with the 2015 BET Awards.  AllHipHop reports in a stark contrast EVERYONE who didn't get so much of mention, much less an award from Billboard, got their love from BET.  Thank God we have our own awards.  Nicki Minaj and Chris Brown are leading the pack with six nods apiece.

Beyonce  and Lil Wayne each received four nominations, while Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole will battle it out for the Best Male Hip-Hop Artist.  New comers Bobby Shmurda, Rae Sremmurd, Fetty Wap and Dej Loaf are all up for Best New Artist.

So be on the look-out, it's going down.  The 2015 BET Awards air June 28th, live from the Nokia Theatre in L.A.
