Thursday, May 14,  don't miss the Law Enforcement Torch Run to kick-off the Special Olympics.  The run will begin at the Lake Charles Civic Center at the front steps at 8:30 a.m. and ends at the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office at 5400 E. Broad Street.  The 2015 Louisiana Special Olympic State Summer Games will take place May 22-24, at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run is being sponsored by  the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office and is approximately 5 miles long.   This local event is in conjunction with an international series of torch relays, being run by other law enforcement officers leading up to each state or nation’s Special Olympic Summer Games.  The Southwest relay runners are comprised of  officers from Calcasieu, Cameron, Beauregard and Jeff Davis Parishes.
Law enforcement officials will carry the "Flame of Hope" across the state until it reaches the Opening Ceremonies and lighting of the cauldron to officially begin the Louisiana Special Olympic State Summer Games in Hammond.

All law enforcement officers in the SWLA are welcome to participate.  For info on this year’s Torch Run, please contact Kayla Vincent at the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office (337) 491-3791.
