Today in Tha Wire everyone's talking about the 2017 BET Awards. As usual, the show was jam-packed with excitement, big performances, well deserved acknowledgements, and of course bizarre moments that'll keep us all talking for the rest of the week. The big night took place at the L.A. Microsoft Theater, as comedian/actress Leslie Jones’ made her debut as host. The big winners for the night included Beyonce, who won five of the seven she was nominated for.  Queen Bey would also claim the Album of the Year, and Video of the Year for her monumental Lemonade album. Of course Bey was not in the house, as she is enjoying motherhood once again with the birth of her twins.

Bruno Mars took home two, of the five awards he was nominated for.  Those trophies included the covenanted, Best Male R&B/Pop Artist.  No big surprise there, his 24K Magic album was huge.  By the way Mars opened the show, and did not disappoint. Peep his performance below.

Bruno is always putting it down, but he appeared to be resting his eye's during Mary's performance.  Lol!  We're gonna try not to hold it against you Bruno.  By the way shouts out to Remy Ma, who put a stop to the Nicki Minaj seven-year reign as Best Female Rap Artist. Love Nicki, but I'm not mad that Remy took home this year's award either. There were some first-timers during last night's ceremony too.  For starters Solange is finally getting some overdue props. Last night she won the Centric Award, for Cranes in the Sky, Chance the Rapper snatched the Best New Artist and Best Collaboration awards for “No Problem.”  The FLOTUS took time to congratulate Chance, prior to his acceptance speech.  Check it out below.

The Migos scored two trophies as well.  They took home the Best Group, and Best Collaboration for the track “Bad and Boujee.” They were also tied to some drama after the show.  It's still a developing story, but they apparently got into it with some guys tied to Chris Brown's entourage.  Below is a look at video of the verbal altercation taken by a bystander's cell.

The only good thing is that Breezy was clearly not involved. Though some media outlets are reporting he was a part of the confrontation, Chris can be seen in the video leaning on a car and watching the ignorant altercation unfold. Word to the wise, go back to making money fellas. More news is coming soon on this. In the meantime, Migos have had their share of run-ins with other artists and it's not a good look for them. Budden was being rude, in the video below, but they should've took the high road and ignored him. Instead, they sink to his level.

We gotta do better fam. Anyway, as for the awards show, performances and tributes, everything was pretty good. Below is a look at a few more highlights and a bizarre moments with Trey Songz and a banana. Trigger, really? Enjoy!
