Prepare to witness music history tonight (Aug. 27) as artists from every genre gather for the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards. Before the 34th annual show begins at the Forum in Inglewood, Calif. at 8 p.m. EST, Lil Yachty will kick things off an hour earlier as the host of the pre-show at 7 p.m.

Cardi B will be among the first acts of the night, taking on the pre-show stage to perform “Bodak Yellow,” which currently sits at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Scheduled acts during the awards ceremony include Gucci Mane, 2017 XXL Freshman Kyle and Kendrick Lamar, who is up for seven awards this year for his stellar “HUMBLE” visual. Back in July, the Compton lyricist’s DAMN. album was listed as 2017’s highest-selling album by Forbes, having moved 1.77 million units since its initial release.

K. Dot is up against Migos, DJ Khaled, D.R.A.M., Chance The Rapper and Big Sean in the Best Hip-Hop category. Each of those artists have videos that received millions of views within the last year. While being nominated in that category for “I’m the One,” Khaled’s “Wild Thoughts” music video with Bryson Tiller and Rihanna is up for two awards as well for Video of the Year and Best Direction.

The winner of Best New Artist category will surely be a memorable one, with artists like Kodak Black and Young M.A. on the nominees list. Both have released standout projects this year. Luckily for fans, there’s still time to vote for your favorite artist in the category on Twitter.

Everyone from The Weeknd to Young Thug is up for an award tonight, which means it’ll certainly be a surprise to find out who goes home a winner. Will the Toronto native’s “Reminder” best Kendrick’s “HUMBLE.” for Video of the Year or will K. Dot overthrow Khaled’s “Wild Thoughts” in the category? Will Thugger’s “Wyclef Jean” earn a win for Best Editing ahead of Future’s “Mask Off”? It’s anyone’s guess.
