Now til December 31st people of all ages and talents are invited to the 1911 Historic City Hall Arts & Cultural Center, located at 1911 Ryan Street to participate in the 4th Annual Handmade Christmas Card Workshop.  All materials needed for you to get your creative juices flowing will be provided, from crayons, to water colors, to markers.

Students of all ages throughout Calcasieu Parish are also invited to create and contribute their art skills in making handmade Christmas cards.  Students will also get an opportunity to write a letter to Santa.  Just in time for Christmas, the letters will be delivered to the North Pole!

In the spirit of giving, all of the handmade Christmas cards will be given to The Calcasieu Council on Aging and be delivered to area nursing home residents.  This is all possible threw the CCOA's Ombudsman Program, which consists of individuals responding to the needs of residents at nursing homes and other long-term care facilities. The goal of the program is to insure that residents receive the best possible care and are treated with respect and dignity.

The 4th Annual Handmade Christmas Card Workshop is Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  The workshop is absolutely free and open to the public, however donations are gladly accepted.  By the way, the Charlestown Farmers Market is open on Bilbo Street behind the building every Saturday from 8 a.m.-noon and is a great way to pick-up locally grown produce and veggies.
