The video above is of Jon Stewart's first show after the September 11, 2001 attack on the World Trade Towers and the Pentagon. His emotional words still echo in the back of my mind today. I get a little emotional myself thinking back to that day, fourteen years ago. Though I wasn’t in NYC of D.C. it still affected me very much, because of my pride as an American. I was on the campus of McNeese State University, on a break from class when I got word of the horrific act carried out in New York and Washington D.C.

The USA has not been the same since 9/11, and I feel we’re still always on high alert. As if we don’t have serious issues of our own here, i.e.: law enforcement/citizen issues, we’re always still on guard hoping and praying we never have to experience anything of that magnitude again. An act of terrorism that the government blamed Al-Qaeda for, some others still aren’t convinced and strongly feel it was an inside job by members of our federal government.

With conspiracy theories and more aside, what’s important is that we continue to remember the innocent lives that perished that day. A day that drastically changed the social, economic, and governing structure of the United States, over night.
