Today in Tha Wire in the wake of another police shooting, the push for peace and non-violence is being called upon ALL of us.  Another military man implemented an ambush style shooting, this time in Baton Rouge Sunday morning (July 17, 2016.)  Former Marine, Gavin Long, murdered three officers, critically wounding one and two more with non-life threatening injuries.

According to reports, the shooting took place at a gas station on Airline Highway. When Baton Rouge police responded to a report of a man with an assault rifle, they were met by gunfire.  The shooting remains under investigation, as authorities are looking into Longs military history, social media accounts, phone records and more.  So far it's being revealed that Long was from Kansas City, Missouri and is believed to have been in Baton Rouge 6-days prior to committing the murders.

As far as personal info authorities say he received several awards in the military, where he served as a Data Network Specialist and was well educated. Long was reportedly very active on social media and had a website called, Convos with Cosmo.  Ironically he was giving advise, referring to himself as a life-coach. It's also being reported that Long's train of thought was becoming more and more twisted.  A year ago he filed papers in Jackson County, Missouri, changing his name to Cosmo Ausar Setepenra.  He claimed to be a "sovereign citizen" affiliated with some kind of network (United Washitaw De Dugdahmoundyah Mu'ur nation) that believes the U.S. government has no jurisdiction over them.  So this brotha had a few issues, to say the least.

Once again we are sending our most heartfelt and deepest sympathy to the family, friends and fellow men and women in blue of the fallen officers in Baton Rouge.  We are also join the fight for peace and the non-violence crusade that's uniting thousands across the nation. "There simply is no place for more violence," Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards said. "It doesn't further the conversation. It doesn't address any injustice perceived or real. It is just an injustice in and of itself."

Trying to make a difference an Anti-Violence Summit led by rapper/actor The Game and the Mayor of Los Angeles, Eric Garcetti took place over the weekend.  Hundreds turned out to join in the discussion on how to bring about peace to the community.

Game and Mayor Garcetti were joined by L.A. Police Chief Charlie Beck, as well as several stars like will.i.am and radio host Big Boy, even former gang members, as well as members of the Nation Of Islam.  Game said we all want the same thing and the event was a beautiful example of how we can work together to bring about peace.  He added, “You know, it’s like a bus going through the city, a bus of love and a bus of positivity.  We want to keep the doors open. We want everybody [to] get on the bus.”

Well said Game!  At the end of the day we are in a war of "Good vs Evil," but I believe there's enough "Good" in all of us to conquer "Evil."   So let's do all we can to guard our minds from the hateful rhetoric, naysayers and negative instigators and take on positivity, to make the world a better place.
