Don’t think for one minute that rapper Future’s success happened over night, years of meticulous observation and patience helped the superstar earn his spot on the music charts. Future and Rico Wade recently chatted with Mass Appeal to explain how and where the DS2 rappers career got started.

Future, real name Nayvadius DeMun Wilburn, was formerly know as “Meat Head,” and is the first cousin to Rico Wade of famed production trio Organized Noize.  Future spent much of his time at the studio’s of hip-hop/R&B and soul collective the Dungeon Family, a group that consisted of Organized Noize, Outkast, Goodie Mob, Killer Mike, Future, and many more. The Atlanta rapper said that he was in the studio with many top rappers who didn’t know he was there until recent years, simply because he wasn’t concerned with hanging with celebrities, but more about making money.

Future also detailed the process from learning that Rico Wade was his first cousin, and how he helped shape him as an artist. Rico also talked about how confident he was that his younger cousin would be big one day, which is when they began to refer to him as “The Future.”

It’s an interesting perspective from Future himself, especially since he rarely conducts interview’s, nor does he divulge in social media much.
