Beyonce dropped her 5th studio album in the early morning hours on Dec. 13.  Pleasantly shocking everyone, Bey released the 14-track effort, available only iTunes.  The hard copy will arrive in stores (except Target) Dec. 20th and will feature her hubby and baby girl Jay Z and Blue Ivy along with Drake and Frank Ocean.   If that's not enough 'Beyonce' comes with 17 new music videos as well.  It's clear Beyonce is a beast and so far her digital album has topped her best sells and made iTunes history with the most sells ever in a week.  What a way to cap off the year!  By the way, here's a look back at how Mrs. Carter started 2013.   Beyonce wowed the world at Super Bowl XLVII in New Orleans, bringing out Destiny's Child members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams for old times' sake.

Kanye West became a daddy for the first time and got engaged this year.  The rapper, and his baby mama, Kim Kardashian, showed the world the first photo of their baby girl, North West, during an interview on the 'Kris Jenner Show.'  The happy daddy told the audience, “My only goal as a dad is to protect my daughter, that’s my instinct to give my daughter as many opportunities to just be a child.  It's really brought [Kim and I] closer because there is someone more important to us than us for the first time.”

Kendrick Lamar blew up the spot and caused a straight up Internet frenzy with his ‘Control’ verse.  The killin part was, it was even his song!  Big Sean released the track two weeks before the his 'Hall of Fame' album debuted.  Ironically enough the track didn't make the album due to sample clearance issues.  Unfortunatly, Big Sean and his album release was over shadowed by all the hype over K. Dot's verse.  Mainly because the kid on the block called out fellow rap peers like J. ColeBig K.R.I,T.WalePusha TMeek MillA$AP RockyDrakeJay ElectronicaTyler the Creator and Mac Miller, declaring his intention is to out-rap them all.   Here's a listen to one of the most controversial joint of the year.  PLEASE BE ADVISED, THIS VIDEO CONTAINS EXPLICIT LYRICS.
