As part of the continued campaign to keep Lake Charles beautiful (KLB), the City of Lake Charles, and Team Green SWLA will team up for the semi-annual Adopt-A-Spot Pick Up Day. This citywide event will take place on Saturday, May 9 and begin at 8 a.m. pretty much until each area has been cleaned up.

Through the Adopt-A-Spot program, individuals, neighborhood groups, civic organizations and businesses can get in on the action, greening and beautifying parks, shorelines, to cleaning storm drains, streets, clearing trails and cleaning-up other public spaces. It's a lot of hard, but rewarding work.  Shouts out to the volunteers!  This program has adopted more than fifty sites around Lake Charles so far.

FYI, Pick Up day happens twice each year and has proved to be very successful, with more and more people coming out to help.  Eligha Guillory, Jr., Asst. City Administrator and Team Green Liaison said of the event,

“The City of Lake Charles appreciates the efforts of the community to keep spaces clean in the interest of public health and wellness,” he added “With enough volunteers, this is a great way to clean up the entire city on one Saturday morning.”
By the way, signs are posted throughout the City to identify a volunteer or group’s adopted location.  All volunteers are also provided with garbage bags and safety vests, all we need is your time and effort.
If your or anyone you know would like to participate and become an Adopt-A-Spot sponsor, please contact Carmen Gordon-Williams at 491-1481 or Lou Estes at 477-6068. For even more information, visit www.keeplouisianabeautiful.org. Find them on Facebook and follow them on Instagram.”
