Afeni Shakur Sues Label For $1.1 Million Over Tupac’s Unpaid Royalties
Tupac Shakur is one of the highest paid deceased celebrities in the world. In spite of the fact that he's been dead for seventeen years, his brand still brings in millions of dollars. Now his mother, Afeni Shakur suing a label for $1.1 Million over her baby boy's Unpaid Royalties
As the co-administer of the Tupac's estate, Pac's mom Afeni is going after a label she believes pocketed her baby boys royalties. TMZ is reporting that Afeni is suing a company called Entertainment One for $1.1 million in unpaid royalties from the 2007 album Beginnings: The Lost Tapes.
That particular album featured songs recorded by the Hip Hop icon in the very early stages of his career. All that being said, Entertainment One allegedly purchased the rights to Pac’s music in July. So that may be a problem for Afeni in getting a judgement. The multi-media company also lists songs by Joe Budden, DJ Khaled, and Jim Jones in their catalog.
Non the less, in addition to Pac's royalties, Afeni is also asking for E One to relinquish all of her sons master recordings and unreleased music.
