Today in Tha Wire Ashanti and her mother, Tina Douglas, are being accused of a hit-and-run. TMZ reports the singer/actress and her mom got into a minor accident on Monday (Jan. 22) in Beverly Hills. Thankfully no one was hurt when their Cadillac Escalade struck a car, as they attempted to pull off. The R&B singer's mom was behind the wheel at the time of the accident.

Ashanti and her mother were approached by TMZ paparazzi as they walked towards their parked SUV. The star appears uncomfortable with their questioning, especially when they asked her about Nelly being accused of rap. She tries to keep it classy, and said, "I'm all about positivity, love and peace," got in her truck and closed the door. Moments later Mrs. Douglas pulled out into the busy roadway, and accidently hit an oncoming car. A few seconds later Ashanti is seen speaking to the other driver, then gets back into her vehicle. As the other driver starts to pull off, a TMZ camera guy asks if Ashanti exchanged information. The woman said, yes, and proceeds to drive away and the singer's vehicle followed.

Then out of nowhere, the other driver reappears visibly upset. The woman started to cry saying, the singer asked her if they could drive around the block to finish exchanging information. She agreed, but she stopped, they kept going. Sobbing she stated that she gave all her info to Ashanti, but she never got theirs. She said her car had damage on the side, and back. According to reports the woman plans to press charges of hit and run. Peep the video below.

Hopefully Ashanti will do the right thing and contact the poor woman. It's looks like she and her mom were a little rattled by the camera crew, and in an attempt to make a run for it, she didn't see the car coming. So far, the singer hasn't made any public statement about the situation. I'll keep you posted if there's any changes.
