Rapper/entrepreneur/reality TV star Raymond “Benzino” Scott's nephew has been convicted of shooting him during his mother’s funeral procession in Plymouth, Massachusetts back in March 2014.

According to AllHipHop, Gai Scott was originally charged with armed assault with the intent to murder. On Monday, August 19, Scott was found guilty of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, but after a six-day trial he was cleared of armed assault with the intent to murder.

While driving in his grandmother's funeral procession in 2014, 39-year-old Scott fired shots at Benzino’s red SUV. The shooting was reportedly over the management of Benzino’s mothers estate. Luckily Benzino was only shot in the shoulder and back and made a full recovery.

Back in March 2014, attorneys for Gai Scott told reporters in regard to the charges of armed assault and attempted murder, “When the dust settles, this case will be shown to be self-defense,” said the Boston Globe. A Plymouth court has since determined otherwise.

Scott’s sentencing is scheduled for August 26.
