BET Developing ‘Hip Hop Sisters’ Reality Show, MC Lyte Serves as Executive Producer
BET has picked up four new reality television shows, one of them called ‘Hip Hop Sisters.’ The docudrama will follow rappers MC Lyte, the Lady of Rage, Yo-Yo, Smooth, Monie Love and Lil Mama as they attempt to relaunch their careers in hip-hop music.
“Their goal is to reclaim their titles as the Queens of Hip Hop — as they manage their drama-filled personal careers and lives and search for the next great female MC,” a statement reads.
MC Lyte is the show’s executive producer, along with Lemuel Plummer. She is also founder and CEO of Hip Hop Sisters Network, a non-profit foundation that she founded to promote positive images of women of all ethic diversity and to bring empowerment to women worldwide. So we can make a healthy assumption that the show’s name is borrowed from the name of her organization.
We wish we could provide you with a date for the series debut, but the show is currently in development.
