On Friday, August 16, we celebrated the retirement of a beloved radio professional, David Morgan. With more than forty years in the business, twenty-five of them were spent here in Lake Charles. I began my internship on October 31, 2003, and started working here in April 2004, so you do the math on how long I've been knowing him. From Dave, I truly learned how not to sweat the small stuff. He's possibly one of the calmest people I've ever met, even more than Erik Tee, and I've never seen him lose his cool in an exciting manner. Dave is one of the greatest voices I've known in the Lake Area, right next to Dale Mann and Gina Cook. But today, I think I stole a tad bit of Dave's shine.

Let me explain! It wasn't my fault!

Well, I guess it was kinda my fault but in a good way.

Once I made it to the retirement party in our conference room at Townsquare Lake Charles, I took my seat and watched as Erik Tee began his presentation to honor Dave, with what looked like the back of a picture frame in his hand. That wasn't the plaque that everyone signed for Dave on Thursday, but that was just me being nosey in my mind.

What came next was something I didn't expect. I was presented with an award, the Townsquare Media President's Award Club, for Contributor of the Quarter (Q2 2019). Wow. I was lost for words, yet happy. I'm not one for accolades, but every now and then it's good to know that your work hasn't gone unnoticed.

Most importantly, thank you Southwest Louisiana for clicking my posts here at 107jamz.com, because without you reading my posts, they couldn't have happened.
