Today in Tha Wire, let me begin by saying the award shows have gotten so political, they're not even worth watching anymore.  CLEARLY they are not deciding what artists should win based on their actually work you know...like their suppose too. They're  popularity contests, not talent contests.  Honestly they're all bogus. From the Grammy's, Oscar's, the MTV Video Awards and yes now even the Billboard Music Awards.

For example. Last night they put artists in categories they shouldn't be in and omitted artists that should've been included.  Like their "Top R&B Song" category. The nominee's were:
Alessia Cara “Here”, Omarion Featuring Chris Brown & Jhene Aiko, “Post To Be” and the rest of the nominations went to The Weekend, who won the award.  Matter of fact he won in just about all of the urban music categories, scoring a total of eight trophies.  Big ups to him on all the wins.  He's a phenomenal artist.  BUT though he had a big year, he wasn't the biggest R&B artist of 2015.  In contrast from September 2014 to December 2015, Chris Brown put out three albums, with a total of nine hit singles. Yet he wasn't even a nominee?

Pour Chris he's been THE best male R&B artist in the game for at the very least, the past two years.  Ever since the 2009 incident with Rihanna, it seems like all the music award show officials have decided not to let him ever win again.  They are blackballing him and it's not right.  He has paid for his mistake publicly, legally and nearly lost his career.  He has also fought his way back to the top of the music game and he deserves to be acknowledged.  Shame on you Billboard.  Don't get me wrong.  I'm not saying he makes the best decisions.  He's young and he's got a lot to learn.  However to keep denying him awards he has rightfully earned is wrong.

The is no way an artist like Chris Brown could not me nominated or win at least one award in a R&B music contest.  Shouts-out to iHeartRadio though. At this years music awards they gave the singer an award he damn sure deserved, R&B Artist of the Year.

Unfortunately he's not the only R&B artist not getting their just do.  Back on Billboard's Top R&B Song category last night.  What happened to Jill Scott, Bryson Tiller, Jazmine Sullivan, Migel or Jerimih?

Don't even get me started with the Rap/Hip Hop categories.  How is the world did Meek Mill beat Drake for the Top Rap Album of 2015?!?!?!   Get the **ck outta her Billboard! Everyone on the planet knows how Drake annihilated Meek in one of the biggest Rap beefs in recent memory last year.  What's really crazy is Drizzy's diss track, "Back To Back", was even nominated for a Grammy.  Of course he didn't win, but still.   It not just Drake loosing to Meek, they totally overlooked J. Cole and Big Sean who also had a HUGE 2015 and others.

So this not getting things right has become a disturbing pattern.  I just can't do it anymore fam.  If these so-called music and movie award shows aren't going to award artists and movie stars fairly, I can't give them ratings by watching.

“All of us live in the land of music, and his departure from it was an earthquake,” said Quest. “But we can follow the trails he blazed and his example. We can be fierce, uncompromising, experimental, and we can also listen to all the songs he left for us. He was very generous in that regard.”

The Prince tribute also featured Madonna and Stevie Wonder who sang, “Nothing Compares 2 U” and “Purple Rain.”

We will miss you forever Prince.  That's the scoop for now.  For all things entertainment listen to Tha Wire every weekday on The Peoples Station 107 Jamz.
