According to TMZ, Birdman is suing Jay Z’s Tidal over Lil Wayne’s Free Weezy Album, citing it’s use to save the music streaming services alleged “struggling" business.

Cash Money Records is suing Tidal for $50 Million for streaming songs from Lil Wayne's album FWA, and claims it has exclusive rights to his music.

In a lawsuit obtained by the entertainment news site, CMR say’s Tidal is resorting to "a desperate and illegal attempt to save their struggling streaming service,” of which Tidal fired back by adding CMR doesn’t have an exclusive lock on Weezy. Tidal says the New Orleans bred rapper gave them the right to stream his music in return for part ownership of the company.

Cash Money Records argued back with a quote from a portion of Weezy’s contract, where it basically reads Wayne doesn’t have the power to license his music to anyone.

This situation is continuing to get ugly, and neither side seems to be going out without a fight. Still think the beef between Birdman, Cash Money Records, and Lil Wayne is a gimmick to sell records? I’ve been doubtful that it was fake since the beginning, this is as real as it gets.

Listen to FWA, it’s hands down a good album from Wayne. Download it free now, before Cash Money forces everyone to take it down.
