Issa Rae is on the cover of GQ’s 2018 Comedy Issue. While her front cover shot is well deserved, inside the mag, the Insecure creator delivers a wonderful tribute to the black sitcom stars of the 1990s.

For the spread, Rae portrays a variety of characters from your beloved black sitcoms. In particular, the actress dons a long braids hairstyle to portray Brandy in her hit show Moesha.

Brandy herself caught wind of the photo and was thrilled to see Rae portray her for GQ magazine. "[Issa Rae] you’re such a beautiful spirit. Thank you for portraying me in your @GQMagazine shoot," she wrote on her Instagram page with the hashtags #BlackTvIcons and #MoEsha.

Rae paid tribute to several other different characters. She portrayed Will Smith in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Kadeem Hardison's character Dwayne Wayne from A Different World and Steve Urkel from Family Matters.
