The fall-out continues from previous tweets by Cee Lo Green.  The tweets were old and referred to a criminal case in which the singer was being accused of slipping his date ecstasy and having un-consensual sex with her, to which he plead “No Contest”.  In 2012, a woman accused the singer of slipping her ecstasy without her knowledge and possibly raping her.  She claimed one minute they were having sushi and then the next thing she's waking up naked in his bed.  No rape charges were filed do to lack of evidence, however the singer was given 45 days of community service and three years probation.

The Goody Mob rapper/singer then sent a series of, since-deleted tweets, implying a woman has to remember being raped in order for rape to happen. He wrote in a tweet quote: "If someone is passed out they're not even with you consciously. So with implies consent," among other inflammatory posts.

Now those tweets are coming back to haunt the entertainer. As of late, a New Orleans resident by the name of Brittany Hunt started a petition on change.org calling for the Gretna Festival to pull CeeLo from its line-up.  The festival is going to take place Sunday October 5th and after a few days of debate, the festival board did just that.  Click here for the Gretna Festival's full statement.

They’re not alone either, Cee Lo was also dropped from the Freedom Live Show sponsored by the U.S. Navy planned for later this month.  Event coordinators posted a cancellation message on its Facebook page  condemning Lo’s tweets.  It read:

Unfortunately, one of the performers we signed for the JBAB Freedom Live show on 20 September recently posted comments on social media that we consider to completely inconsistent with Navy core values. Regardless of intent or context, the lack of sensitivity towards an issue that is one of the great challenges facing our Navy is unacceptable.

As a result, we have made the decision to pull Cee Lo Green from the Freedom Live event on 20 September. Little Big Town, the main attraction for the event, will still perform as scheduled. We will announce as soon as possible a replacement opening act of the high quality that you expect and deserve.

Cee Lo has apologized for his statements, but it hasn’t made any difference.  In the meantime, looks like his bank accounts gonna take a few hits before this goes away. Speaking of which, The Voice superstar has lost another major gig and for more details on that, listen to Tha Wire now.  Plus, find out what celebrities are celebrating birthdays today.
