Today in Tha Wire Chance The Rapper, whose legal name is Chancelor Bennett, did something extraordinary yesterday (Monday March 6, 2017.)  The 23-year old rapper donated $1 million dollars to the Chicago Public School System (CPS), in direct response to Illinois governor's "inaction" to provide funding to deal with the deficit.  Chance also pledged for every $100,000 he raises through his non-profit organization, SocialWorks, he'd donate an additional $10,000 to different public schools throughout the city.

FYI last year in December, Gov. Bruce Rauner vetoed a plan to allot $215 million to Chicago's financially strapped Public Schools.  According to the news Chance had a meeting with the governor to try and convince him to allow the money to go through, but it didn't go so well.  Monday during his press conference Chance said that Republican governor's answers for why he was blocking the badly needed funding were “vague,” adding “Our kids should not be held hostage because of political positions.”  Below is a look at the entire press conference:

So looks like the rapper is taking matters into his own hands, by giving his own money to help the struggling public schools in his city.  Which is simply amazing!  Chance The Rapper is making a HUGE impact on his city, fans and the former First Lady Michelle Obama.  Last night Mrs. Obama took to her twitter page and thank him for stepping up to the plate and being so generous.  She tweeted, “Thank you @ChanceTheRapper for giving back to the Chicago community, which gave us so much.” She added, “You are an example of the power of arts education.”
