It was utter chaos at the 2015 Hot 97 Summer Jam concert.  Well outside the venue that is.  TheBoomBox reports all was well as the biggest concert of the year kicked-off at the MetLife Stadium in E. Rutherford, N.J. last night (Sunday June 7).  At some point during the evening, a gang a people were trying to enter the concert, but the stadium gates were locked.  Though some people had tickets, most of them reportedly didn't and became upset when they were not allowed into the venue.

Local TV station, WABC-TV New York, reported police wearing riot gear were blocking the entrance and ordered people to leave the area.  Instead of complying, the crowd allegedly got even more unruly.  Some men and women tried to rush the gates, while others started hurling bottles at police.  Things just escalated from there, as authorities used piercing loud noises and tear gas trying to get the crowd to disperse.

Soon social media lit-up with video, pics and captions of the chaotic event as it unfolded outside the stadium.  Meanwhile, Hot's Program Director/Morning Show host, Ebro, blasted the rowdy crowd and blaming “a few idiots” for the disturbance. He said the gates were open to everyone from 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. and those who chose to come late got made because they couldn't get in.  Ebro posted that they will never tolerate bad behavior regardless if people had tickets or not.

Speaking of which, Hot organizers said those who had un-scanned tickets and got locked-out will be given a refund at point of purchase.  State police said crowds of people were trying to illegally force their way into the sold out concert and that's what caused all the drama.

Meanwhile, inside people were oblivious to what was going on outside.  The concert went on as scheduled featuring everyone from Kendrick Lamar, Chris Brown, Fabolous, Meek Mill and more.

After the concert Ebro told NJ.com, Hot's iconic concert series has been going on for 23-years and has never had this kind of trouble saying “The people that made it go sideways, you’re an idiot.  Throwing bottles at the state troopers, we don’t like that,” he added “You’re trying to ruin it for everybody.  Shame on you.  Everything was so positive inside, it’s unfortunate this happened outside.”
