Childish Gambino, also known as actor Donald Glover, is about to get that big screen sci-fi money. It was just announced today (Oct. 21) via Lucasfilms that Glover has been cast to play a young Lando Calrissian in the upcoming Hans Solo film meant to serve as a Star Wars prequel. Though the film is still unnamed, Glover joins Alden Ehrenreich (Hail, Caesar!, Blue Jasmine) who has been cast in the lead role of Hans Solo to bring two iconic Star Wars characters back together in a time in their lives previously unexplored onscreen. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are set to direct the new flick.

“We’re so lucky to have an artist as talented as Donald join us,” said Lord and Miller upon the casting announcement. “These are big shoes to fill, and an even bigger cape, and this one fits him perfectly, which will save us money on alterations. Also, we’d like to publicly apologize to Donald for ruining Comic-Con for him forever.”

Gambino has been on a creative Renaissance, flexing his acting, writing and directing skills plenty this year. The 33-year-old debuted his own series Atlanta on FX this past September and the dramedy has gotten rave reviews from fans and critics so far. Gambino has managed to marry his two loves by sneaking in new music into some episodes. The series about struggling cousins trying to break into the rap game was renewed for a second season after pulling in 1.8 million viewers on it's premiere date.

Atlanta airs Tuesday evenings at 10 p.m. EST on FX.
