Over the weekend, wearing a “For Trayvon” T-shirt Chris Brown gave out hundreds of free Reebok sneakers to kids at Roy Campanella Park in Compton.  Breezy was there as part of his “WE US: Walk Everywhere in Unity’s Shoes” campaign.  The gathering on Saturday (July 20) was in conjunction with the nationwide vigil for Trayvon Martin. The Chris Brown Channel was there to capture the unity event.

Joining Breezy was the Los Angeles Deputy Mayor, local youth organizations and the LAPD, who made sure the event was peaceful and orderly.

“WE US! Thankful for all of the people who came together to help give back today!” tweeted Brown. “A big thank you to LA Deputy Mayor Cespedes, Skipp, Big U and the LAPD for making this campaign safe and successful!”

In other news,  Kanye West has got himself in trouble and facing possible charges after his fight with a photographer while leaving LAX airport Friday (July 19).  TMZ is reporting that Yeezy is being named a felony suspect for attempting to take the photographer’s camera during the altercation.

Supposedly the Robbery Homicide Unit of the LAPD is working on putting the case together now.  So far, the cameraman has been interviewed by cops and they’ve determined he suffered injuries and will refer the case to the DA as a felony robbery.  Of course he wants to press charges against Kanye and will more than likely sue as well.

At first Kanye stops and calmly approaches the man and said,  "What you're trying to do is get me in trouble, so I'll have to pay you like $250,000!"  Then ironically, gave the guy exactly what he wanted by going  after him.

Get more details about what set Kanye off below with Tha Wire.

Finally, rapper Wale‘s new album is called ‘The Gifted,’ and like the title, the ATL rapper presented a Hampton University student with a nice little financial “gift.”  Lauren Pryor, a second year Psychology student, won Wale’s “The Gifted” Scholarship competition after being the 25th caller and winner on a Norfolk, Va. hip-hop station.

Pryor told the Hampton University News how she won saying, “I was on my way to a friend’s home in Hampton.  I called four or five times.  The line was always busy.  On about the 14th call I told myself to give it a rest. I was taking the phone from my face and had my thumb on the ‘end’ button when I heard a man say, ‘hello.’ I didn’t believe it.  He told me there were millions of calls and he only picked up the phone 14 times nationwide.”

“Winning this scholarship was truly a blessing,” she said. “Almost not returning to Hampton University in the fall because of expenses, I was exceedingly fortunate to receive this scholarship. It was truly a test of faith.”

Find out what else she got and how Wale presented her with the $25,000 dollars.  For all of today's juicy details press play now to hear Tha Wire:
