Officials from the City of Lake Charles made the decision on Wednesday, June 21, to close City Hall and their administrative offices due to Tropical Storm Cindy. The closure is also for Thursday, June 22.

The Summer Food Service Program and Recreation and Parks Department’s Sumer Camps are also suspended on both days, but will reopen Friday, June 23.

The City Transit is suspended, but will reopen on Friday, June 23.

City garbage and trash collection have been rescheduled, Thursday’s trash will be picked up on Friday, June 23. Garbage and trash normally picked up on Friday will be picked up on Saturday, June 24. The city asks that residents secure garbage cans in a "secure location” off the street, due to “expected winds and rain” from Tropical Storm Cindy.

The City Council meeting set for Wednesday, June 21 at 5:30 p.m. has been rescheduled for Monday, June 26 at 5:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, located at 326 Pujo Street.

Street conditions will continue to be monitored by public safety employees and public works crews. If flooding occurs residents are encouraged to stay off roads, or avoid flooded streets, and “avoid creating wakes” that could cause flooding issues in residential areas.
