For the first time ever, the City of Westlake, La. will have a Easter parade on Saturday March 28, 2015.  The parade will begin at 10 a.m. and will conclude with a hot dog feast at about noon at Westlake Methodist Church, located at 209 Gray Street.

The American Press reports the parade will begin at Westlake High School, located at 1000 Garden Dr, travel up Sampson Street and end at City Hall at 1001 Mulberry St. City Councilwoman Betty Bates says, during the parade commuters can take Guillory Street as an alternate route.

Councilwoman Bates told the American Press, “This is our very first parade, and I don’t know how it’s going to go,” adding “I do hope it’s a success.”  She explained the parade will have a dramatic beginning, as members of the Knights of Columbus will carry a cross up Sampson Street.   Other parade participants will include Miss Westlake and local festival queens, several area churches, the Westlake High School Band, cheerleaders from both Westlake High and S.P. Arnett Middle.  In addition, the famous Shriners' Clowns will also be on hand making animal balloons for children along the parade route.

Councilwoman Bates said, “I’m sure (our Easter parade) is not going to be as large as some of the others,” she continued “I think after this one when people see that it was successful we will enlarge it and do more next year. I want the people to be proud of their city and to join in and show their pride.”

Don't miss all the excitement as Westlake celebrates it's first Easter Parade.  Again, it all takes place this Saturday March 28, 2015 at 10 a.m..  In closing, Councilwoman Bates told the American Press the City of Westlake is also planning to host parades for the Fourth of July, Halloween and homecoming 2015 as well.
