Super talented actor/choreographer/singer, Columbus Short, was in police custody as of last night after being arrested by bounty hunters and the L.A. Sheriffs Department.  The former Scandal star was picked-up Tuesday, minutes before he was to go on stage for a sound check at a club in Universal Studios City Walk.  Later that night Short was going to celebrate his album release party, but obviously that didn't happen.

Peep the video below as a stunned Short tries to make sense of what's happening.

Early reports by TMZ stated the actor was arrested for failure to appear in court in a domestic violence case and the judge issued a bench warrant.  Shorts rep later clarified that report was inaccurate and told the site,

"[Short's] arrest was NOT due to an outstanding warrant ... . It appears that this is a citizen's arrest as a result of an issue between Mr. Short and his bail bondsman."

In addition the rep stated, “Mr. Short was in good standing with the court when he was picked up. It’s really just between him and his bail bondsman."

TheWrap.com reports the actors attorney, Ludlow B. Creary, told them Short was due to appear before a judge at the LAX Superior Court this morning at 8:30 a.m. However, it's believed the actor posted bail before then and his lawyer told TheWrap, he didn't have to attend a hearing the matter because of that. Creary added, “He is in the process of bailing out as we speak."

Hopefully the talented star can find a way to put this behind him.  Unfortunately over the last year or so, Columbus Short has a laundry list of legal issues piling up.  Upon his departure from ABC's Scandal in April last year, the star was charged with domestic violence. Then in December, Superior Court Commissioner Mark Zuckman ruled prosecutors had enough evidence to charge the actor with felony battery in a separate case.

That incident took place in March last year at a family gathering in an L.A. bar, were Short punched a man named Fenton Hyche.  Hyche reportedly suffered a concussion and a fractured eye socket.  If convicted, the actors looking at up to four years in prison.  If anything happens on that, of course I'll keep you posted.

On a brighter note, Columbus Short does have a future in music.  His new single "Gave Ya" is quite nice.  Take a listen below and let us know whatcha think.  Not sure what the tittle of his album is, but if and when it's available I'll let you know.
