I was talking with my friend and barber Roosevelt who was telling me about a young lady who was a teacher from Washington Marion and was offered a job in Jos Nigeria as a Primary School Principal. He also told me about some of the expenses that she would have to endure and about an event that she would be doing this weekend to help offset some of the bills.

I immediately wanted to get her on my show to talk about it and see how we could help get the word out to the listeners and others in surrounding areas. Her name is Shakiyla Solomon and This Saturday there will be a benefit that will feature performances and food from various vendors at Lake Charles Toyota on Gerstner Memorial Drive beginning at 7 pm.

The benefit will be to assist with International Health Insurance, housing, food and evacuation if needed. She has committed to two years, but could potentially stay longer. Let's come out and support one of our very own as she'll be taking it to another level and going over and beyond to assist with the students and faculty. I want to give a big shout out to Miss Solomon for stopping by to talk with me today about the benefit and letting us help spread the word to the listeners.
