Top seed McNeese State set a school record for wins here Wednesday night with 65-55 quarterfinal victory over Southeastern Louisiana at the State Farm Southland Conference Tournament. The win is the first conference tournament victory since 2005 and the Cowgirls advance to the semifinal round also the first time since 2005. The game will be televised live on the Southland Network (Suddenlink Channel 14) in Lake Charles and can be heard live on KJEF (1290 AM) radio.

The Cowgirls (24-6) were led by All-Southland Conference performers Ashlyn and Caitlyn Baggett. Ashlyn led all players with a game high 18 points. She was six of nine from the field including two three-pointers and made four of five free throws. Caitlyn was three of seven from the field and perfect from the free throw line, making all eight.

"I thought we did a lot better job in the second half. We came out a lot stronger. I thought we defended better in full court. This is a big win, its been a long time since McNeese has advanced to the semifinal round, and we're really excited, said head coach Brooks Donald Williams.
