The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office (CPSO) is on a mission to make sure all women in SWLA know how to defend themselves, by offering self defense classes.  Can you defend yourself if you come under attack?  Would you know what to do to safe your life?  Whether you think you could or not, it still may be worth your while to attend these upcoming classes.

If nothing else you can pick-up some new techniques and gain sold information on how to spot a possible attacker.   The CPSO is hosting a free “Ladies Personal Safety” seminar at the their Training Academy, located at 3958 Mallard Cove Drive in Lake Charles.  The first seminar was held on Monday, October 3, but you still have time attend future seminars held every week in October.  Below see the schedule of future classes.

· ADVANCED PERSONAL SAFETY CLASS I – Tuesday, October 11 from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m.
· ADVANCED PERSONAL SAFETY CLASS II – Monday, October 17 from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m.
· ADVANCED PERSONAL SAFETY CLASS III – Tuesday, October 24 from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m.

All women in the area are encouraged to attend and can choose any date to attend this free event.  Learn important defenses against sudden violent attacks, gain situational awareness, even fear management.  You don't have to be a professional fighter to save your life during an attack, but it would help if you knew what moves to make.  The seminars will teach basic defense moves against common grabs and strikes, so you can be more confident in your day-to-day living.  It's highly recommended that you wear comfortable clothes like shorts, sweatpants, t-shirts, socks and tennis shoes to the seminars.
