With the holidays in full effect, keep in mind a designated driver is the way to go if your planning on turnin'-up at one of the many celebrations in the city.  It's never cool to drink and drive.  If you know your going to partake in the party spirits, make sure you're the passenger and not behind the wheel on your way home.

Here's another reason to play it safe, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office (CPSO) will be conducting DUI checkpoints at undisclosed locations throughout the parish.  In an effort to keep the roadways safe and allow for everyone to have a happy holiday, the checkpoints will be set-up on Friday, December 23.

The CPSO will target anyone driving under the influence of alcohol and/or narcotics.  This holiday checkpoint is funded by a grant from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission. Staging random checkpoints throughout the parish has proven to be very effective in deterring individuals from driving impaired.  When people know sobriety checkpoints are being conducted, they are more likely to get a designated a driver as well.

Be safe don't drink and drive.  Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
