CPSO & U.S. Coast Guard Recover Man’s Body at Saltwater Barrier
According to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office, The body of a 44-year-old Lake Charles man was recovered from the Saltwater Barrier after a joint search by the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Coast Guard.
Deputies responded to a call from a witness who saw a man, who seemed intoxicated, swimming at the Old Hwy 171 Boat Launch. Deputies went out to investigate but could not locate anyone.
The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office got a call regarding 44-year-old Christopher S. Woodard, of Lake Charles. The caller specified Woodard had gone to the store and had not returned. He had been missing 24 hours.
A joint search between the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Marine Division, and the U. S. Coast Guard turned up Woodard’s body at the saltwater barrier, three and a half miles downriver from where the search originally began, and where he was last seen by witnesses on Monday (Sept. 1st).
According to CPSO, no foul play is suspected.
