The legend Bob Marley’s youngest son is diversifying his portfolio these days. Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley is converting a 77,000 square foot California prison into a marijuana farm.

According to Billboard, Jr. Gong and his business partners, Ocean Grown Extracts, purchased the Claremont Custody Center in Coalinga, with plans to turn the vacant prison into a weed dispensary and generate over 100 new jobs.

"Many people sacrificed so much for the herb over the years who got locked up. If this helps people and it’s used for medicinal purposes and inspires people, it’s a success,” said Marley.

Not only does Marley now have his own strain of cannabis, “Speak Life”, but he partnered with Colorado-based TruCannabis last month to launch a pot dispensary, Stoney Hill, in downtown Denver.

Their first cannabis crop in Coalinga, CA. is set to be harvested at the beginning of 2017.
