Dave East Admits His Looks Helped Him When He Was Homeless

It's no secret that the ladies love Dave East, a rapper who's praised for not just his lyrical skills, but also his looks. While it's easy to imagine how attractiveness could help a rap career or even an average joe, something less discussed is the way it can improve the life of a homeless person. Speaking with Page Six about a time he was homeless, East shed some light on this idea.

During his conversation with the publication, which was published yesterday (Oct. 18), East admitted that his looks helped make life as a homeless person more bearable. “I am not going to lie — my looks helped me,” he said while discussing the time he spent without a home. “I stayed with a couple of girls...shout-out to them, they know who they are.”

Earlier in the interview, the 2016 XXL Freshman explained some of the factors that led him to being homeless. “It was more [that] I did not want to ask my moms and pops at the time [for help], and I felt like I was grown so I went through my little phase,” he told the publication.

It's unclear when, exactly, East was homeless, but any way you look at it, it's clear he won't have to worry about looking for a home for a long time. Over the last several years, he's become one of the more respected lyricists in hip-hop, and in 2014, he signed a deal with Nas' Mass Appeal Records. Just a few weeks ago, he dropped off Beloved, a dope new project from himself and Styles P. Salute.
