New hip-hop fans have had to go through extra measures to get to De La Soul‘s earlier work because they aren’t available on iTunes or Spotify due to sample clearance issues. That’s going to change tomorrow (Feb. 14). The group will release its entire catalog for free on that day before dropping new material, according to Rolling Stone.

De La Soul will do so in commemoration of next month’s 25th anniversary of its classic debut ’3 Feet High and Rising.’ Its catalog will be available for 25 hours starting on 11AM.

“It’s about allowing our fans who have been looking and trying to get a hold of our music to have access to it,” De La Soul member Posdnous tells says. “Its been too long where our fans haven’t had access to everything. This is our way of showing them how much we love them.”

Fans who already have De La Soul’s entire discography will be delighted to know the group still hasn’t stopped working on a new album. ‘You’re Welcome,’ the trio’s first album since 2004′s ‘The Grind Date,’ was originally supposed to drop last year. Perfectionism is what’s holding the release back.

“We have tons of music, but we’re our own worst critics,” Posdnous says. “Certain groups have too many ‘yes men.’ In our group, we have too many ‘no men.’ When we look back on some of the stuff we have, we’re like, ‘Yo, we need to just put this out.’” The rapper also mentioned there’s another album under wraps that’s in the works.

De La Soul is hoping to release ‘You’re Welcome’ before the summer, but it will be posting new songs to its site in a few weeks. Next month is expected to see the release of ’Preemium Soul on the Rocks’ EP, a collaboration effort that has DJ Premier and Pete Rock splitting production duties. De La Soul dropped ‘Get Away,’ its first new song since 2004, last year.
