Feb. 9 — Hip-hop could have very much lost one of it’s gems on Monday night, but luckily police were able to revive troubled rapper DMX, real name Earl Simmons.

According to TMZ, Yonkers police responded to a call about an unconscious man in the hotel parking lot of the Ramada Inn just after 6 p.m. Upon arrival cops discovered it was the lifeless body of DMX laying on the ground, he wasn’t breathing and had no pulse. Officers began CPR immediately and got a pulse back after a minute.

A witness reportedly told police that DMX "ingested some sort of powder before lapsing into unconsciousness.” The rapper was given Narcan, an opioid reversal drug, and taken to the hospital.

X has since denied taking any powder or drugs, and says he remembers having shortness of breath after suffering from bronchitis days prior. A family member also said he asked for his asthma inhaler before falling unconscious. He’s reportedly in stable condition, and no criminal charges have been filled.
