Donald Glover has been tapped to host Saturday Night Live with musical guest Childish Gambino. Huh, what?

The Golden Globe-winning actor will serve as host on the May 5 episode and perform as his rap alias Childish Gambino. Pretty clever SNL.

Glover is doing phenomenal work with his FX dramedy series Atlanta (especially with the shocking “Teddy Perkins” episode) but he has bigger plans on the big screen as well.

In May, Glover will star in the sci-fi actioner Solo: A Star Wars Story, which tells the story of Han Solo meeting his future copilot Chewbacca and smuggler Lando Calrissian (played by Glover) years before joining the Rebellion.

Directed by Ron Howard, the movie will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival before arriving in theaters on May 25.

Glover’s SNL gig is a homecoming for Glover. The 34-year-old comedian was a writer on NBC’s popular sitcom 30 Rock and starred in the ensemble comedy series Community.

Glover also joins a list of musicians who performed double duty on SNL. Among them Justin Timberlake, Janet Jackson, Bruno Mars, Jennifer Lopez, Ludacris and others.

Donald Glover will host and perform on SNL on May 5 at 11:30PM ET on NBC.
