Drake may be wrapping up his contractual obligations to Cash Money Records. Hot 97's Ebro Darden went on Twitter today (Oct. 24) and claimed Drizzy's deal with Cash Money will be fulfilled once the rapper drops the recently announced More Life.

"The illest piece of the Drake album dropping in DEC is his Cash Money deal will be over... whoa!" Ebro wrote. "Mad people finishing their deals in the next 18mos... Interesting."

Ebro's assertion should be taken with a grain of salt though. DJ Folk, an industry veteran who worked at Cash Money Records as a production coordinator, has already refuted Ebro's claim.

"Not entirely true there's a wrinkle in that what they counted because 2 didn't count towards that fulfillment under og terms," DJ Folk wrote in reply to Ebro's aforementioned tweet.

DJ Folk further explained the situation in a different conversation on Twitter. DJ Folk stated that 2015's If You're Reading This It's Too Late and the Future collaboration What a Time to Be Alive did not count as albums on the Cash Money contract.

"It's a 6+ plus 1 and wattaba and the other joint ain't count from last year," he said. "im looking at amended cm ym umg contracts based thru this apple deal...... knowing cash money deals its a 6+1+1 first rights refusual type of deal at that."

Another wrinkle in Ebro's claim is Drake's reluctance in calling More Life an album. In his announcement, the Toronto native referred to the release as a "playlist project."
