Eminem to Donate ‘Lose Yourself’ Lawsuit Winnings to Hurricane Relief

Eminem is donating any monetary compensation he receives from a New Zealand court ruling, which said that the conservative National Party breached copyright “Lose Yourself” when they used a similar song in their campaign ads.

This week, High Court Judge Helen Cull ordered the party to pay the Detroit rapper 600,000 New Zealand dollars ($415,000) plus interest in damages, but today (Oct. 26), Eminem said that whatever compensation he receives will go directly to hurricane relief efforts. A rep for the rapper said that contrary to reports, he didn’t initiate the lawsuit and was not consulted during the case.

“Eminem was not a party to this lawsuit nor was he consulted regarding the case,” the rep said. “Any monetary settlement he receives from it will be donated to hurricane relief.  He encourages the plaintiffs, 8 Mile Style, to do the same.”

In other Em news, it seems as though his upcoming album is being advertised through fake drug ads. It’s suspected the album will be named Revival and will drop sometime next month.
