Looks like "Empire" might have suffered low ratings after it aired it’s Wednesday (Nov. 25) episode, “Sinned Against,” with appearances from Alicia Keys and Vivica A. Fox. There may be a fair answer to this weeks lower ratings.

The day before Thanksgiving is known to be one of the busiest traveling days of the year, so that could have been a contributing factor in the lower than usual number of views. Even so, “Empire” still reigned supreme over all other shows on Wednesday night. The last time Empire experienced such low numbers was during the premier of episode one of season two, on January 7.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Empire” averaged 9.1 million viewers and still beat out all other TV shows that aired on Wednesday night.

The Fox drama tumbled a steep 30 percent to a 3.1 rating among adults 18-49. That’s by far a night-of low for the top-rated broadcast series, which airs its fall finale next week. It’s a dramatic drop that the show hasn’t taken yet, but not altogether unique given TV viewers’ tendency [to] leave the tube before the holiday weekend (biggest bar night of the year!). And it is thus far unflappable in its DVR average. - THR

Next weeks season finale will tell if the show itself is declining, or if the holidays played an important role in only fetching the popular show only 9.1 million viewers.
