Enter The SWLA Mardi Gras Shoebox Float Contest

It's just about Mardi Gras time in SWLA and along with the annual festivities, balls and parades, there's also a contest that everyone in the family can get involved in.  Join in on all the fun of Louisiana's Carnival season by entering the annual Lake Charles / Southwest Louisiana Convention & Visitors Bureau, Mardi Gras Shoebox Float Contest.

The deadline to register is January 9, 2017, so click here to fill out the registration form and enter now!  The Mardi Gras Shoebox Float Contest. is the ultimate way to show-off your families unique Louisiana heritage, culture and share in creative fun all at the same time. This is also a great project for your schools, classmates, athlete teams, church or civic groups to take part in too.

By the way, there are several divisions and categories. Whether you're doing a float for the first time, just for fun or you're a seasoned vet looking to claim the Shoebox Float crown, anyone can enter the contest.  Even better, everyone has an opportunity to win great prizes!

Prizes will be awarded for the best Mardi Gras Shoebox Floats and will include everything from cash, event tickets, plaques, gift certificates and much more.  All (1st / 2nd / 3rd place) categories will be awarded with plaques and ribbons.

Below is a breakdown of the divisions and prizes to be awarded for each category:

Best of Show - $100 + 2 Royal Gala Tickets

Child - $75 + 2 Royal Gala Tickets (1st place), $25 (2nd place)
Teen - $75 + 2 Royal Gala Tickets (1st place), $25 (2nd place)
Adult -  $75 + 2 Royal Gala Tickets (1st place), $25 (2nd place)

Pre-K / Elementary School Groups & Organizations:
Gumbeaux Gator Party! (1st place)
$25 gift certificate for a class/group party (2nd place)

Middle School / High School Groups & Organizations:
$75 gift certificate for a class/group party (1st place)
$25 gift certificate for a class/group party (2nd place)

Professional
$75 + 2 Royal Gala Tickets (1st place), $25 (2nd place)
