The 1st annual Shrimp and Jazz Festival will be held Saturday, June 20, from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. at the Lake Charles Civic Center Exhibition Hall, 900 Lakeshore Drive. Expect a variety of shrimp dishes, art vendors and soulful Jazz music.

Featured artists include Grammy nominated Jazz artist Mickey Smith, Jr., Tipitina Internship Band, The Jairus Daigle Network, Taylor Morrel, Kevin Lambert, David Locklear, Tim Norris, Jarvis Jacob, Street Side Jazz Band, Lake Charles Young Band Nation, and MBK with Jamain and Germain Winfrey.

The Shrimp and Jazz Festival promotes the cultural importance of Jazz and cuisine in our area and the thriving local community that features a unique blend of music, performance, and visual arts that unites people.

“We are seeing a rapid growth with the coming of new industries and jobs to the area, as well as a unique diversity materializing in our communities,” said Shari Davis, event coordinator. “We hope to enhance and benefit our local neighborhoods and their new diversity by awakening a love for the evolving Jazz genre: blues, cool or smooth Jazz, the speedy, hard-hitting rhythms of be-bop, and the earthy vibes of soul Jazz.”

Admission for the festival is $5 for adults and $2 for kids 12 and under..
