Friday-Sunday, April 8-10, CyPhaCon is bringing another convention to Southwest Louisiana in its long stream of exceptional Sci-Fi/Fantasy & Gaming culture conventions. Formed by a group of dedicated individuals representing local Sci-Fi/Fantasy & Gaming fandom interests, CyPhaCon made its first appearance at the Lake Charles Civic Center in April of 2011. A mix of Anime, Science Fiction, Fantasy and Gaming genres, the convention continues to attract enthusiastic interest from both within and outside Southwest Louisiana.

CyPhaCon 2016 is sure to appeal to most every fantasy and gaming fan in the region. As with past events, the convention will be hosting some impressive television video and voice celebrities, including Tony Amendola, Geppetto in the hit ABC Series “Once Upon A Time”; Nana Visitor, Major Kira Nerys of "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine”; Monica Rial, Bulma in "DragonBall Z Kai"; Aaron Douglas, Chief Galen Tyrol in "Battlestar Galactica"; and prolific Anime voice-actor Kyle Hebert, Narrator in “DragonBall Z.” Also appearing, will be several popular authors, such as S. Usher Evans, Michael Moreau, Roland Yeomans, T.S. Barnett, Chris Hayes and Ryter Rong.

Artist favorites Johnny and Jacqueline Segura will be on hand to render their special touch of fan art to the convention along with special guest artists Boon Businelli, Jim Fergeson, Preston Asevedo, Chris ‘Oz’ Fulton and many more.

Performing groups include local cover band The Tugboats, longtime fan-favorite Suzaku 7, both performing on Friday evening in the Rosa Hart Theater, as well as the popular Orion's Envy, Bedlam Bards, and Cosplayer, Silly Little Missy.

Gaming groups appearing are Scion eSports and MechCorps.

Also present will be a large number of local and out-of-town fan groups, such as: 501st Legion Bast Alpha Garrison, Rebel Legion, Starfleet Internationals’ U.S.S. Lafitte & U.S.S. New Orleans, 1701st Fleet, Hunter's Den, LC Otaku, Louisiana Airship Steam Society, Gulf Coast Roller Girls, U.S.S. Orleck Navel Museum, North American Assassin’s Creed Guild, and many more.

All celebrities, performing guests and groups, fan groups, writers and artists will be available to attendees for face-to-face meet & greets and autographs.

Weekend activities include The 6th annual CyPhaCon Charity Auction, benefitting Hobo Hotel for Cats, along with the annual CyPhaCon Cosplay Contest, the CyPhaCon Saturday Evening After-Party, demonstration and discussion panels, celebrity meet & greets, autographs, extensive gaming events and a unique collectible and food vendors.

Friday evening, there will be an exciting addition to CyPhaCon's unique repertoire of attendee-fun: The first annual "CyPhaCon Pub-Crawl.” Attendees will get to experience several of downtown Lake Charles' finest restaurants and bars on a fun-filled walk-about sure to please.

CyPhaKids, our child-friendly (ages 5 thru 11) convention corner geared to please geeky-yet-doting parents and their youngsters makes its return. Formed in CyPhaCon’s third year, CyPhaKids has proven to be a popular and growing aspect of the CyPhaCon experience, with games, artwork, music and other child-friendly activities a-plenty.

"CyPhaCon 2016 is going to be another record-setter,” predicts Stuart Griggs, CyPhaCon Administrator. “Thanks to all the support shown us, [the convention] continues to grow in leaps and bounds which allows us to offer attendees an eclectic variety of activities to choose from. Our resourceful volunteer staff has been, and still is, working diligently to assemble a program everyone can be enthusiastic about. Once again, we’ve many groups and organizations coming together to make the entire weekend something that we hope will be truly special, with activities to appeal to a broad base of attendees with a variety of fandom interests. We encourage any and everyone who identifies as anime, sci-fi, cosplay, and/or gaming fans and dabblers to come visit with us for all three days of CyPhaCon, ‘cause you don’t wanna miss anything!”

CyPhaCon activities will encompass the entire central portion of the Lake Charles Civic Center, including the first-floor Exhibition Hall, the second-floor Contraband Room and Mezzanine, the third floor Buccaneer and Jean Lafitte Rooms, and the Rosa Hart Theater. Operational hours will be: Friday, 3 p.m. – midnight; Saturday, 8 a.m. – midnight; and Sunday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

CyPhaCon has flexible and affordable membership rates: At-The-Door Weekend Memberships for Children ages 7-13 are $15, Children 14+ & Adult are $40. Single-day membership rates: Children 7-13 are $15; Children 14+ & Adults are: Friday, $20; Saturday, $35; and Sunday, $15. Children 6 and under attend free.
