Summer is coming to an end but the Children’s Museum has plenty of fun August activities planned to beat the back to school blues!
Friday, August 1: Playdough
Build something fun with Playdough in the ArtSpace from 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m.
Saturday, August 2: CyPhaKids: Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey
At 11 a.m. children will learn about science while doing fun crafts and experiments involving Doctor Who! The program is limited to 20 children ages 4-10.
Monday, August 4: Lacing Bookmarks
Make a cool bookmark for back to school! Class begins at 2:30 p.m. and is limited to 25 children.
Tuesday, August 5: Pick a Project Workshop
Choose to paint a paper mache diary or a tambourine! Classes begin at 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. and are limited to 20 children 4 years and up.
Wednesday, August 6: Watermelon
Enjoy fresh watermelon from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
Thursday, August 7: Lowe’s Workshop for Kids
Lowe’s employees will help children build a wooden project they can keep! Class begins at 11 a.m. and is limited to 25 children 4 years and up!
Friday, August 8: Experiment with Paint
Visit the ArtSpace between 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m. to experiment with paint!
Saturday, August 9: Sasol’s Second Saturday Science Show
Learn “magic tricks” with magnets! Sasol’s Joe Pawela will perform a demonstration of the power of magnetism and electricity. The show begins at 11:30 a.m.
Monday, August 11: Fish Banks
Paint your own ceramic fish bank to save your change! Class begins at 2:30 p.m. and is limited to 25 children 4 years and up.
Tuesday, August 12: Pick a Project Workshop
Choose to paint either a birdhouse or wind chimes. Class begins at 11 a.m. and is limited to 25 children 4 years and up.
Friday, August 15: Kinetic Sand Fun
Great mess-free sand that children can sculpt, stretch, mold and pull will be in the ArtSpace from 3:30-4:30 p.m.
Friday, August 22: Pasta Necklaces
Make a pasta necklace in the ArtSpace from 3:30-4:30 p.m.
Saturday, August 23: Closed for Imagination Celebration
The Children’s Museum will be CLOSED for the staff to prepare for our annual fundraiser.
Imagination Celebration is a night of Celebrity Karaoke, amazing food, music, dancing and live and silent auctions. The fun begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Lake Charles Civic Center. Tickets for this adult 80’s party are $50. All proceeds help us make improvements, expand and provide special programming. For more information please call our office at 337-433-9420.
