Additional Information

The Interim LSU Public Hospital Level 1 Trauma Center in New Orleans invites you to help us decrease the number of injuries and fatalities on Louisiana roadways.

The National Child Passenger Safety Technician Program is coming to your area. For a limited time, the course is offered free to participants. This is a 40 hour course for individuals who are interested in educating the public on the proper installation of child restraints. Child restraint misuse remains hight in our state and through partnerships, we can make a difference.

The course was developed by NHTSA and the National Child Passenger Safety Board to meet the needs of traffic safety, health professionals and first responders who are responsible for or educate on the proper installation of child safety seats. Successful completion renders certified passenger safety technicians through the SAFE KIDS Worldwide Campaign.

Proper installation of child restraints promotes compliance with the Louisiana child restraint law, and decreases the number of childhood injuries and fatalities in motor vehicle crashes. Having certified technicians at your agency provides the technical knowledge needed to address installation issues, allows for participation in community events, health fairs, and even the development of a fitting station at your won facility.

We encourage you to join our efforts and make a direct impact on traffic safety. For additional information concerning the course, please contact Bridget Gardner at (504) 903-3181 bgardn@lsuhsc.edu or Patty Clesi at (504) 903-4296 pdough@lsuhsc.edu.

Class size is limited to 30 individuals. Please register as soon as possible as the course will fill quickly. A $60.00 cancellation fee will apply to all cancellations 10 days prior to the first day of class.

Sincerely, Bridget Gardner RN [Program Director - Louisiana Passenger Safety Task Force]
