Rock the Dock – Bartender Battle

Rock the Dock is a cocktail competition where bartenders from different bars make thier best concoctions  and they are judged by the people who attend the event. We are going to have 3 events a year plus the finals. One event will feature vodka and all the cocktails must have vodka at the main liquor. It will be held sometime this summer. Another will feature bourbon which will be this fall and another rum which will be next spring. People pay $10 to come in a taste the cocktails and they get two tickets to vote on the best cocktails. The bar with the most vote tickets wins that event. The bartender who created and served that drink then qualifies for the finals which are held at Contraband Days.

There have been two events held so far, one last fall and one in the past few weeks. The top 5 bartenders from those two events qualified for the finals which are going to be held on May 9th. The finals are going to be fashioned like the show "Chopped" where we give them a couple of ingredients and they have 8 minutes to fashion a cocktail from that. We are going to have a panel of judges who will then judge the cocktails and then cut one competitor. They will then have a different baskets of ingredients and do the same thing until we get down to the "last bartender standing". This will then be considered the best bartender in Southwest Louisiana. The event is going to be held at the amphitheater at the Civic Center and will start at 7pm. There will be music and bars to buy your own concoctions. You only need a pass into Contraband to attend but you can get limited VIP seating for $25. The VIP seating is going to get to taste the cocktails the competitors make. VIP seating will be purchased at the gate so come early to get yours. After the event we will have a DJ spinning some tunes to stay and enjoy the evening or you can cruise through the Contraband grounds.
