Fat Joe and Remy Ma visited the XXL office in New York recently to speak on their smash single "All the Way Up" and their forthcoming project, Platas O Plomo, due out in July. During the visit, we asked Don Cartagena to give us some of his funniest and most memorable Big Pun stories and he did just that by recalling the time he got locked up in the same cell with the Capital Punishment rapper.

During Joe's sit-down, the Terror Squad general goes in-depth in a hilarious recount of his 1998 arrest with Big Pun after both men were charged with assault and robbery for allegedly striking a man with a baseball bat and stealing his gold chain at the 1998 Puerto Rican Day Parade in New York. While the charges were eventually dismissed a few months later in a Bronx courtroom, Joe recalls the time he spent in jail with Pun and how both big men had to share the same cell during their visit.

Joey Crack recalls how Pun was excited to see their faces on the front page of the newspaper and how his appearance on the printed publication made him feel like he had "made it." It was that moment when Joe realized that he had to really sit down and mentor a young Big Pun.

Fat Joe's never-before-heard story of his time in jail with Pun is definitely one to watch since it's been given the animated treatment by XXL. Look for more of Fat Joe's hip-hop tales featuring Big Pun to drop in the weeks to come.
