The shooter, Ronald Gasser, is in custody at this time and the murder and an investigation is ongoing.  McKnight was drafted by the Jets in the fourth round of the NFL draft I n 2010, straight outta USC.  He would only be with the team for three years, before getting cut in 2013.  The former running back failed his condition test and was later arrested for outstanding traffic violations in New Jersey.

McKnight was picked up by the Chiefs in 2014, played two games and hasn't played since then.  McKnight is the second NFL star to be murdered in New Orleans.  Earlier this year former Saints D-lineman, Will Smith, was also murdered after a road rage incident in the middle of a intersection.
