Frank Ocean Sued Over Grammy Award Winning Album “Channel Orange”
As Frank Ocean enjoys the Grammy Award he won for Best Urban Contemporary Album for his debut LP Channel Orange, he's celebration may be cut short.
According to reports, he's being sued by producer/songwriter Micah Otano for copy-write infringement. Otano filed a lawsuit in California, on March 6 last week, claiming he wrote a song titled “Daylight,” with producer Malay, who is also named in the lawsuit, along with Island Def Jam and Universal.
Otano accuses Malay of taking all of the production credit for “Lost,” which he claims he helped produce. On top of that, Otano’s lawsuit claims that Malay copied “Daylight” almost verbatim, changed the name and turned it into “Lost.”
Micah Otano seeks an undisclosed amount in back royalties and damages. On this I will keep you posted as further info become available.
